The Department of Planning and Community Development (DPCD) has been established to closely link planning with community development to build active, confident, and inclusive communities. CERES gratefully acknowledges the financial support of the the fund.

In mid 2007, a group of local residents met with the intention to turn a patch of grass into a community garden. It presented itself as a solution to the lack of garden space within the medium density housing surrounding it, and a space for food production for the greater community. By early 2009 the group has become incorporated , applied for grants and jumped many bureaucratic hurdles with the assistance of Sustainability Streets Moreland.

Nestled on the tropical island of Vorovoro, Tribewanted is Fiji's only cross-cultural community project that offers you both an adventure of a lifetime and the chance to experience 'real Fiji'. Whilst on the island, you can get involved with all sorts of projects including gardening, farming, cooking, fishing, wood cutting, building traditional bures, documenting island life through blogging, creating short videos and reporting life on Vorovoro through our online site. Visitors can also learning traditional crafts ie mat making for island, language lessons, Meke (Fijian dance) lessons and work in the local schools.
