Two years ago we installed a cutting-edge, very low-flush (2 litre/3 litre) toilet system in the toilet block next to the café… Rainwater collected from the buildings on Lee Street and near the café is stored in an underground tank and is used to flush these toilets. When the tank is empty we need to use mains water.

Unfortunately there was not enough pressure for the toilets to flush properly and we had to convert to a very high flush. With funds from the Office of Living Victoria we have now installed a specialized pump that can deliver water to the toilets at the right pressure to achieve the very low flush volume.

New pump mechanism for flushing the toilets using little water.
