We are looking for a passionate and experienced café supervisor to look after the team and day-to-day operations of the Bakery Café, located in the Grocery at CERES Environment Park. The right person will love local, seasonal and organic produce, sustainability, great coffee and excellent customer service.   

CERES GROCERY, BAKERY & CAFE

The CERES Grocery, Bakery and Cafe is a vibrant space at the centre of the CERES Farm community food system. The Grocery supports local organic growers and producers while providing a hub for the community to come together to form a positive food culture. The Bakery creates delicious bread using sustainable heritage and organic grains, as well as croissants, pizzas and pastries made fresh daily. The Café serves organic coffee, fresh sandwiches and wraps, bakery goods and lots more, made fresh using seasonal produce. The three enterprises work together, sharing resources to minimise waste and create the best food experience for our customers. .

Where you come in

The Café Supervisor will be responsible for ensuring that all cafe staff are working to deliver high-quality coffee, food and service, that customer needs are met and that processes are efficient, simple and consistent. 

You will oversee the day-to-day operations of the cafe, develop, improve and maintain processes for running the cafe smoothly and supervise a team of approx. 8 across the week. You will work closely with the Grocery Area Manager and Bakery Manager where necessary. 

This role has scope for creativity and ideas as we are always looking to find new ways to become a business that sets the standard for sustainability in reducing waste and championing local, seasonal and organic products.

Does this sound like you?

This role requires:

Proven hospitality experience, with an interest in and commitment to local, seasonal and organic foods.

Proven experience in supervising and coordinating a team.
Proven barista and staff coffee training experience.
Strong organisational skills, with experience in setting and maintaining systems for day-to-day cafe operations.
Strong communication and people skills.
Experience in ordering and managing stock in a hospitality environment.
