CERES’ new electric vehicle

CERES had a very famous electric vehicle for its use up until recently. Our Citroen Belingo was the first electric car conversion road registered in Australia. In its day it was pioneering technology and enthusiastically built by talented volunteers from the community with backing from like minded organisations (Donkey Wheel, Swinburne University).

It’s CERES’ way of showing the community its support for moving to future transport without reliance on fossil fuels. Our little red Belingo or ZEV (Zero Emissions Vehicle) has looked after us really well for 10 years. But, its battery cells are no longer able to hold enough charge.

Getting a new set of batteries was going to be an expensive exercise so in looking around for other possible solution to our need we were very lucky to get in contact with Renault Australia who make an electric version of their Kangoo van. We learnt that they had one of these vans that was used in a trial, and were delighted to accept it at a generously reduced rate. We plan to partner with Renault Australia as we are both keen to promote electric car use.

Our new Renault Kangoo is just the right size for us to use for our urban transport needs and continues our support for electric vehicle usage in Australia. It is beautifully quiet and smooth to drive, has no need to visit a petrol station and because there so few moving parts, only needs a service once a year!

Our heartfelt thanks to Renault Australia for their generous support.
