Sponsor a CERES Chook

For many, especially younger visitors, our chickens are the star of the show at CERES. The problem? Our chooks absolutely know it, and demand the finer things in life.

Even though the majority of them are egg-laying, we’re left to foot a bill of $20k in food that is going be-kerk, so we thought it was time that they paid their way.

We’d like to introduce you to three of our famous hens. Although they may look similar, these chooks have VERY distinct personalities.

Watching them scratch, rummage and flap around our organic farm and grocery is a lasting memory of being at CERES for many people.

Helen - chook with cardboard background
  • Young, gutsy, spirited, energetic.
  • Always on the move, often jumping the fence to explore the world of CERES, much to the older girls’ dismay.
  • Her favourite place to explore is Terra Wonder.
  • Cheeky fills her day with a morning skipping rope class, jumping the fence to hang out in Terra Wonder with her pals. She’s always the last to roost.
  • Strong, healthy, diligent, intelligent, motivated.
  • A busy hen, she’s a regular layer and well known amongst the chooks.
  • She’s finishing her Permaculture Design Course and hopes to teach the younger chooks about the impacts of climate change and sustainable practices for life.
  • Between laying and studying, Heidi loves to spend her spare time in downward dog at the yoga studio, finessing her pottery skills or getting a cocktail with the girls.
  • Matriarch, luxurious, classy, leisurely, relaxed.
  • An older hen, Helen is looking forward to slowing down in retirement. She’s planning to move down the coast, buy a Tesla and finally get some cat-eye sunglasses.
  • She sometimes finds the younger chooks like Cheeky to be a bit loud when they disturb her afternoon naps.
  • Helen stays busy with her morning walks, cups of tea and never misses crossword club.

CERES is a registered charity with ACNC, with DGR-1 Status and a proud non-profit partner of 1% for the Planet.

We love to encourage our community to do both. The social enterprises you’re supporting create local jobs and a local economy, but incur overheads to operate. Making a donation on top of supporting our enterprises is the best way to see the park you love cared for.
